Overview
Columbia, MD Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Director of Information Security and Technology to join the team. The Director oversees enterprise IT, information security governance, and cybersecurity operations, ensuring compliance with industry best practices, contractual obligations, and applicable federal regulations. The Director serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, ensuring technology and cybersecurity initiatives are aligned with business objectives, organizational risk tolerance, and contractual obligations, while enabling secure and reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities
Information Security & Compliance
Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Information Security Program.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including but not limited to:
NIST SP 800-171 / 800-53
CMMC (current and emerging requirements)
DFARS, FAR, and other agency-specific requirements
Act as the company’s Information System Security Officer (ISSO) or senior cybersecurity authority, as applicable.
Collaborate with Freedom’s MSP to lead risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and continuous monitoring activities.
Prepare for and support security audits, assessments, and customer reviews.
Technology & Infrastructure Leadership
Serve as a primary point of contact and manage the relationship with MSP and other external service providers.
Oversee IT infrastructure, cloud environments, networks, endpoints, and enterprise applications.
Establish and manage IT policies, standards, and procedures.
Ensure secure, reliable, and scalable systems that enable business operations.
Direct disaster recovery, business continuity, and data protection strategies.
Strategic Planning & Governance
Develop and execute a multi-year IT and cybersecurity roadmap aligned with business growth.
Advise executive leadership on technology risk, investment priorities, and emerging threats.
Manage IT and security budgets, vendors, and third-party service providers.
Support M&A due diligence and integration from a technology and security perspective, as applicable.
Collaborate with our FSO/CSSO, Contracts, HR, and Program Management teams to ensure compliance across operations.
Support proposal efforts by contributing security and IT compliance inputs.
Serve as a primary point of contact for government customers on IT and security matters.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
10+ years of progressive experience in IT and information security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft O365 cloud environments.
Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and compliance requirements.
Strong working knowledge of NIST frameworks, CMMC, and federal cybersecurity regulations.
Experience managing both security and general IT operations.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
CISSP or comparable industry security certification.
Additional certifications demonstrating expertise and track record of continuous learning.
The estimated salary range for this position is between $180,000-$200,000 (annualized USD) plus annual short-term incentive bonus target equal to 15% of annual salary. This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package. Actual salaries are influenced by several factors, such as location, the individual’s education, skills, experience, and competencies, as well as contract affordability and organizational needs.
