Summary
The Cincinnati - OH VA Medical Center is seeking a highly qualified full time Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available.
Duties
The Oral Maxillofacial Surgery dental officer at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center provides quality patient care in collaboration with other health care professionals
The individual will perform specific duties within their approved scope of practice
The Dentist should be proficient in all aspects of Oral Maxillofacial surgery and limited general dentistry procedures
Dentists will be graduates of an ADA accredited dental school and where applicable - will be graduates of an accredited residency program
They are also independent licensed practitioners who hold a full and unrestricted license to practice in any state
Dentist providers are Staff Dentists or Staff Dental Specialists and report to the Chief - Dental Service
Dentist providers provide direct patient care for inpatients and outpatients in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting as assigned
Further - dentist providers provide consultative services for patients referred from other outpatient services/clinics - inpatient wards and/or urgent care/emergent care areas of the VA Medical Center or Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) The duties - roles - and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following: Provides and reviews radiographic and oral cavity examinations for patient consultation to include work-up - admission - medical/dental specialty and inter-disciplinary care - completion of surgical procedures - and providing post-operative and follow-up care of patients of the oral and maxillofacial regions
Performs dento-alveolar surgery - including simple surgical and complex exodontia - pre-prosthetic surgery - bone grafting - sinus and ridge augmentation - vestibuloplasty and implant placement procedures
Performs oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures including but not limited to treatment of facial traumatic injuries/facial fractures
treatment of pathological conditions such as benign cysts/tumors - orthognathic surgery - biopsy procedures and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) surgery
Practices safety - health - and infection control standards - and demonstrating knowledge in the use and reprocessing of Reusable Medical Equipment (RME)
Administer local anesthesia
May be asked to perform other related duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday Daytime hours with 24/7 responsibilities
However - must be available to meets the needs of the department and medical center
Will establish a tour of duty as per need of service.
