Technical Project Manager (ERP Integration Workstream) - Contract

Hazel Seybert Consulting, Atlanta, Georgia, United States, 30383

Save Job

We are Hazel Seybert Consulting - a boutique consulting firm dedicated to helping leaders and their teams transform their business, particularly in the area of project management.

Note this is a 6‑month contract opportunity with the potential for extension and/or conversion to full‑time permanent. This is a hybrid position with travel to Atlanta, Chicago, and Florida. We have an immediate need for a high‑tenacity Technical Project Manager with a heavy emphasis on legacy system decoupling and SAP S/4HANA integration. You will be responsible for managing a specialized workstream of developers tasked with migrating from a legacy platform to SAP. The goal of this project is to "pull out" the ERP and Order Entry capabilities and move them to SAP S/4HANA while leaving the Warehouse Management (WMS) functionality inside the legacy system for the time being.

Ideally, we are looking for a candidate with deep tactical PM experience in software development lifecycles (SDLC) and API‑led integrations. You must be a "firm but fair" driver who can provide rigorous structure to a highly talented but scattered development team, ensuring that critical data mapping and code builds are completed without delaying the enterprise‑wide go‑live.

What You’ll Do The PM will work closely with the program leadership and the internal development team, ensuring high‑quality system integration and execution. This role will be expected to ensure:

Process Engineering & ITSM Deployment:

Evaluate current development workflows and identify/deploy an ITSM platform or framework (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, or Monday.com) to provide absolute visibility into sprints, backlogs, and resource capacity.

Project Governance:

Manage the development workstream, maintain a rigorous schedule, and hold internal subject‑matter experts (SMEs) accountable to deadlines.

Project Management:

Maintain the "source of truth" for the workstream’s health, including rigorous tracking of code sprints, technical decision logs, and milestone completion.

Integration Accountability:

Guide and monitor the development team as they decouple ERP functions from the legacy J‑Base system while ensuring Warehouse Management (WMS) stability.

Data Mapping:

Act as the lead facilitator for data mapping between legacy "green screen" systems and SAP S/4HANA; ensure "data continuity" so that no business signals are lost during transition.

Risk Mitigation:

Proactively identify and "raise the red flag" regarding technical bottlenecks or resource distractions before they impact the 2026/2027 go‑live date.

Ideal Project Manager Profile

Experience:

Proven expertise in managing technical workstreams and implementing development lifecycle processes.

Leadership Style:

Confident rigor – secure enough to hold senior developers and SMEs accountable to their timelines while remaining a supportive partner.

Communication:

A diplomatic "truth‑teller" who can surface technical delays early to program leadership while maintaining strong working relationships with the dev team.

Work Style:

A "cat‑herder" with a bias for action. You thrive in complex environments where technical teams are pulled in multiple directions and require a singular point of focus and a structured ITSM process to drive progress.

Key Traits:

Comfortable with necessary conflict to maintain project velocity. Thinks in terms of scalable processes and sustainable change management.

Required Experience

Situational Experience:

Must be able to provide examples of serving as a primary PM for a technical workstream and implementing a project management tool or ITSM software from scratch.

7‑10 years

in Technical Project Management, SDLC Management, or IT Consulting.

Strong expertise in API‑led integrations

and managing data mapping between legacy platforms and modern ERPs.

Strong command of Hybrid Methodologies:

Ability to manage Agile/Sprint‑based development within a larger Waterfall program structure.

Technical Tooling:

Experience identifying and configuring tools like Jira, Azure DevOps (ADO), or Monday.com to track high‑velocity development tasks.

Industry Experience:

Experience in Parts Distribution, Residential/Commercial business services, or Warehouse Management Systems is a significant plus.
