divh2Security Position/h2pIncumbent is responsible for the operation of security functions within the Pass and Identification office for controlling visitor access and movement on the depot./ppScreen numerous employees, visitors, and contractor personnel daily, requiring a great deal of patience, discretion, and diplomacy to determine status of an individual and reason for and location of visit./ppControl, prepare and issue identification badges, common access cards (CAC) and passes, that allow access of civilian, military, contractor personnel, and visitors to the depot./ppMaintain a variety of files, control registers, and records to provide control of sensitive information maintained./ppOperate and maintain various items of equipment to include computer equipment used in the identification, and registration process./ppUse personal computer and related computer equipment to prepare a variety of forms, listings, memoranda, and correspondence in conjunction with the work of the office./ppAppointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation./ppThis position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required./ppTerm employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights./ppThis is a Term position scheduled to last two years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of eight years depending upon the needs of management. This cannot be made permanent./ppThe duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Drivers License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles./ppThis position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time./ppThis is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is available./ppSpecialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) processing access for visitors and employees in accordance with security procedures; 2) managing security-related databases for accurate records and reports; 3) and composing official correspondence for the security office in compliance with communication standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04)./ppOR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university./ppOR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.
