Assistant Project Manager – Solano Campus (Facilities Planning & Capital Projects) The Assistant Project Manager works within the Facilities Planning & Capital Projects (FPCP) Department of Facilities Management & Development (FMD) at Cal Poly Maritime Academy, Solano Campus, Vallejo, CA. The role provides project planning, architectural and engineering design/coordination, construction, and project management services for campus facilities.

Responsibilities

Assist with projects during development, planning, design, construction, close‑out, and warranty phases of major capital outlay projects.

Support the Project Manager in overall project performance, including scope, safety, quality, schedule, innovation, and cost management.

Represent the university and collaborate with campus groups, university officials, architects, engineers, contractors, inspectors, and local agencies during all project phases.

Coordinate and integrate project meetings, activities, and updates; keep campus clients/users informed of project status.

Monitor project activities, development, and resources to mitigate risk. Make well‑informed, critical decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis; a master’s degree may substitute for one year of professional experience.

Possession of (or ability to obtain by the date of hire) a valid California Driver’s License.

Potential requirement to obtain AHERA Inspector certification for asbestos‑related work, Cal/OSHA Lead training, and ability to wear respiratory protection. Cal/OSHA mandated medical evaluation required before respirator use.

Excellent communication skills and a high degree of professionalism and customer service.

Ability to work effectively in partnership with Cal Poly SLO and other campus stakeholders.

Salary & Benefits The anticipated hiring range is $77,000 – $95,000 per year. The offer is calculated based on background and relevant years of experience. Cal Poly offers a comprehensive benefits program, including health, dental and vision insurance; retirement participation in the Public Employees' Retirement System; and educational benefits for eligible employees.

Supplemental Information Satisfactory completion of a background check, including a criminal records check, is required for employment. The person holding this position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083. Cal Poly is not a sponsoring agency for work visas.
