Job Summary The Clinical Coordinator collaborates with the Director on the governance and leadership of the Department providing high quality care in a patient focused environment. Responsibilities include ensuring appropriate staffing plans 24/7, staff development, providing clinical expertise and monitoring, and compliance with regulatory agencies. Accountable for 24 hour staffing of the Department.
Responsibilities Human Resource Management Assists the Director with development and monitoring of staffing plans to ensure optimal quality of care, productivity and clinical outcomes. Participates in the interview process and makes hiring recommendations. Provides leadership to personnel, acts as a role model and mentor, provides feedback to staff concerning performance, establishes systems for open communication and problem solving, and promotes professional growth. Develops orientation and training programs. Evaluates clinical competence through observation. Provides input to Director on performance evaluations. Consults on employee relations. Uses KRONOS time and attendance system to complete staffing schedules.
Regulatory Compliance Ensures departmental compliance with applicable JCAHO, federal, state and local regulatory agencies. Assists with implementation and monitoring of Women’s Health specific quality and safety initiatives. Submits required data including state perinatal submission requirements.
Service Excellence / Patient Satisfaction Develops an environment of service excellence and high standards of clinical care, recommends goals and objectives, develops quality improvement plans and customer satisfaction programs. Engages staff in performance improvement, research, quality initiatives, and shared governance.
Leadership Applies leadership skills consistent with role and experience, delegates and assigns care appropriately, provides feedback, coordinates care within the multi-disciplinary team, manages conflict, and participates in committees, councils, policy development and professional organizations.
Caring Relationships Fosters relationship‑based care with patients, families and co‑workers, keeps patients and families informed, involves them in decision making, anticipates needs, responds to concerns promptly, and expedites discharges following unit guidelines.
Operations Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policies, goals, and objectives to ensure nursing care reflects current professional standards. Maintains clinical expertise and high performance standards, monitors and evaluates operating systems, identifies needs for enhancement, and provides recommendations to the Director.
Patient Safety Assists with investigation of risk management and safety issues, communicates incidents to the Director, resolves problems with staff, patients, visitors, physicians and other departments using the CQI process.
Qualifications BSN required. Registered Nurse licensed in NYS. Minimum 5 years of emergency, urgent care or acute care experience. Two years management/leadership experience preferred. BLS certification required within one year.
Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills, collegial collaborative relationships, ability to initiate a nursing care plan, manage, organize, prioritize tasks, demonstrate superior customer service and team‑building skills, energetic, outgoing, passionate about patient care, flexible, proactive, facilitator, sense of humor, competent in Microsoft Office.
Salary Range: $35.00-$57.84. Compensation may vary based on overall experience, shift, and location.
