Loan Workout Officer

to join our Salt Lake City team. Special Assets (SAG) manages loans and credit relationships for borrowers experiencing financial difficulty, and the mission is to restore credit when possible or minimize the bank’s loss exposure when not.

This team supports Zions Bank and Vectra Bank’s large commercial loans from $1M up to $50M (or larger) and handles the workout of adversely graded loans through debt restructuring, settlement negotiations, potential legal action, and liquidation of collateral. The team has five members and offers a good work/life balance with flexible schedules. Training on Zions’ Credit Foundations program is provided.

Responsibilities Collects and resolves problems on troubled loans.

Secures collateral, equity, or assets to preserve loan principal, gathers interest, and prevents or limits losses.

Restructures debt and negotiates settlement agreements for adversely graded loans; pursues appropriate legal action and/or liquidation of collateral when needed.

Liquidates real estate or other assets as necessary and/or manages properties or other assets owned by the bank.

Reviews lender liability issues to avoid lawsuits and keep legal expenses under control.

Develops good working relationships with internal and external industry contacts.

Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, internal policies, and procedures related to the position.

May provide assistance to less experienced Workout Officers.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field.

4+ years of experience in commercial/real estate/business loans, lending laws, credit analysis, credit monitoring, loan workouts, or related fields.

A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.

Advanced knowledge as a generalist or specialist of commercial/business lending, lending laws, bankruptcy laws, and cash flow analysis.

Advanced working knowledge of collection processes and practices.

Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-resolution skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to identify, research, coordinate, and resolve issues.

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.

Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Risk Grading.

Location and Workplace

Located in downtown Salt Lake City. The role is in office; accessibility to City Creek area facilities is noted in context of local amenities.
