Job Overview The Design Engineer will conduct due diligence investigations and perform preliminary design and engineering analyses for water and wastewater utilities on retail, commercial, industrial, and residential sites. Projects involve coordination with Fortune 500 clients, local developers, and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations for the property.
Prepare Site Investigation and Due Diligence Reports, including ordinances review, utility service research, agency regulations, and site visits.
Prepare Conceptual Utility Plans.
Design Utility Systems Plans.
Prepare construction cost estimates.
Coordinate project activities with clients, consultants, and project team for comprehensive site plan application.
Perform calculations related to pumping systems and hydraulics for water and wastewater facilities.
Prepare technical reports, including water and sanitary sewer reports.
Prepare written correspondence to outside agencies, clients, contractors, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
2–5 years’ experience in Civil Utilities Engineering.
Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) preferred.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a personal or company vehicle.
Proficient with AutoCAD to produce site plan drawings.
Knowledge of planning and zoning processes.
Knowledge of hydraulic and stormwater design programs.
Design and drafting capabilities, grading and drainage design skills.
Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals.
Proficient in mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation.
Proficient in the following design tools:
AutoCAD Civil3D
Hydraulic software (Hydraflow, StormCAD, Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA))
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Independent and critical thinking abilities.
Self‑starter who can work independently and collaboratively with team members.

The salary range for this position is $68,000 – $85,000.
