Structural Bridge Engineer – Subject Matter Expert

We are seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer – Subject Matter Expert to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Kernersville, North Carolina office. Annual Compensation:
$128,000 – 185,000 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards. Essential Functions
Perform engineering design tasks for bridge projects from preliminary to final design. Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages. Establish working relationships with client technical staff and project managers, especially in DOT and local governments. Provide engineering design services for traditional design‑bid‑build and design‑build bridge projects. Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans. Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers. Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance. Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action. Complete tasks within schedule and with multidisciplinary teams. Actively participate and serve in leadership positions in transportation related organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, NCSEA, etc. Other duties as assigned. Essential Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis is required; an M.S. degree in a relevant discipline is preferred. P.E. license required. Qualifications
10+ years of bridge/culvert design experience. DOT bridge design experience and thorough understanding of DOT guidelines, procedures, and plan preparation (ODOT, NCDOT or MaineDOT preferred). Relationships with DOT, municipalities preferred. Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation.
