Job Description The Avery Dennison Identification Solutions group is looking for an Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team at our site in Miamisburg, Ohio. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead and execute cost savings projects that are directly tied to key strategic goals for the business.
Roles and Responsibilities
Promote safety as the most important value in the organization by contributing through training, process improvement and other environmental, health, and safety responsibilities
Document standard processes and procedures for implementation and training
Develop and implement production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost‑efficient manner
Provide support to manufacturing to resolve production and quality issues that arise on a day‑to‑day basis
Work with machine repair team members to analyze root cause and define corrective actions for future preventive maintenance
Conduct technical inspections of complex machines
Recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases
Partner with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to develop and execute projects that are part of the Identification Enterprise Lean Sigma journey
Manage special projects, which could include supplier relationships, production performance management, sustainability, and other ad‑hoc projects
Set project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and solving problems
Define requirements for new equipment validation run‑off
Prepare new machines and production equipment for operation
Optimize direct and indirect manufacturing labor and in‑plant material flow through the use of industrial engineering methods including line balancing, time studies, as well as both in‑plant and external material flow
Design and plan equipment layouts
Minimum Education Required High School/GED
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Engineering, Mechanical/Industrial) or 2‑4 years of experience in an engineering function in a manufacturing environment
Knowledgeable in Electronic Systems (wire diagrams, schematics, PLC logic…etc.)
Knowledgeable in Mechanical Systems (cams, torque requirements…etc.)
Excellent math and analytical skills
Excellent communication and organization skills with an emphasis on detail
Understanding of process documentation and improvement
Proficiency with applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office and Google Apps (mail, docs, sheets, slides, forms)
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed: Working experience in Oracle E‑Business Suite R12; Proficient creating 3D models and 2‑D prints using SolidWorks or related CAD software; Proficient in AutoCAD 2‑D for facility layout planning; High‑energy, self‑directed, self‑starter; Ability to execute multiple projects with minimal supervision; Ability to work comfortably in a dynamic, fast‑paced, and matrixed organization; Ability to communicate effectively with cross‑functional groups to define and execute overall requirements
