Position Summary The CAPEX Buyer is responsible for optimizing the value delivered by Carlex’s supply agreements and supplier relationships. The CAPEX Buyer is responsible for setting priorities and managing strategic sourcing activity in the areas of capital equipment, service contracts, and installation projects. The CAPEX Buyer brings sourcing support to capital projects and maintenance projects within the plants. This role brings outstanding service and value by being highly collaborative with all plant stakeholders, especially engineering and maintenance. At a corporate level, the role is responsible for engagement with Corporate Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies to collaborate on existing and new technologies for projects across the company. The CAPEX Buyer will be responsible for effective communication and reporting of local, national and international supplier activity.

Essential Job Functions

CAPEX Buyer core responsibility is to deliver optimal supplier solutions, matching the technical requirements, in the study, design and execution phase of capital projects

Maximize collaboration with stakeholders to determine critical specifications and service requirements

Deploy and support actions to sustain a medium-long term sourcing strategy, leveraging the category spent at the highest perspective, ensuring the correct deployment of project finance solutions

Negotiate project contracts and implement agreements to obtain the products and services and planned performance and savings targets in accordance with Corporate CAPEX Procurement approved processes

Engage corporate support according to established responsibility thresholds based on economical magnitude, strategic importance and identified leveraging opportunities arising for strategic suppliers with recurrent project along Carlex system

Acts as the Purchasing and SCM main point of contact for CAPEX Procurement function supporting commercial related activities for capital projects including the active participation in defining and deployment of the CAPEX Procurement Annual Activity Plan and related Savings Plan, standard RFQ processes, best practices, progress reporting (participation on periodic calls) and issue resolution

Search the market for potential suppliers and manage the RFQ process

Compile feedback on performance of current suppliers while applying market know-how to the collection and analysis of key cost drivers, market dynamics, areas for innovation, and alternative suppliers

Active participant in Purchasing team with willingness to lead non-CAPEX purchasing projects when needed to drive the goals of the department

Requirements Education:

Bachelor of Science Degree preferred

Years of Experience:

10+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations

5+ years’ experience in a purchasing role, with capital project experience preferred

Other Requirements:

Tier 1 automotive experience preferred

Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays

Ability to travel to work with key stakeholders at Carlex Manufacturing plants, managing suppliers at project sites, and supplier visits during sourcing and equipment builds

Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
