Data Center Technician position involves in-depth hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair as well as participating in an on‑call rotation.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

NOTE: Amazon does not sponsor immigration, including H‑1B, TN, and other non‑immigrant visas for this role.

NOTE: Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.

Key Job Responsibilities

Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.

Carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of AWS services.

Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.

Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.

Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.

Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.

Physical Requirements

Lifting and moving material up to 40 lbs.

Working in cramped and/or elevated locations.

Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.

Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day.

Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.

Work Environment

Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, covering night and day shifts.

May be assigned to a facility still under development, requiring travel to established locations for training until assigned site becomes fully operational.

Essential Requirements

Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.

Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.

Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and the operational status of the assigned facility.

Must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required by business needs.

Take ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution.

Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem‑solving.

Resolve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context.

Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.

Act in the absence of direction or support.

Improve effectiveness through process innovation.

Basic Qualifications

Work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.

18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.

18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a data center or other critical environment.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field (e.g., computer science, network engineering).

Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).

Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.

Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.

Experience training and onboarding new team members.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $55,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $125,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
