Position Overview

ADB is seeking a Level II Technician, Joint Use to join ADB’s Engineering team. This position is responsible for make-ready work associated with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) projects, including fiber installation assessments, coordination with pole owners, permitting, right-of-way, and related tasks to facilitate FTTH design and construction work. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, process driven with a strong work ethic and an ALL-IN attitude to achieve results.

Roles And Responsibilities

Proficient level ability to coordinate and design joint use pole attachments and make ready recommendations.

Coordinate with Engineering Team Members regarding overall aerial processes ensuring accuracy, completeness and delivery of all work.

Partner with Joint Use Team and Supervisor to determine appropriate scope of pole installs including; NESC standards for cable attachments, spacing and midspans regulations, and utility pole owner regulations.

Gather appropriate information from field collection process to identify pole owners and complete the necessary application process.

Ability to perform various field inspections, site walks, katapult pole collections, etc.

Identify existing pole conditions which include electrical equipment, pole configurations, and third party attachers.

Work within pole collection software such as Katapult, IKE, SPIDAcalc, Ocalc, and other similar applications.

Read and understand construction prints, documents, and make ready summaries.

Create 3-dimensional models of poles in O-Calc and Spida-Calc to provide results for safe and proper attachment to power and telecommunication poles.

Review utility poles and field notes to determine the most accurate make ready solution.

Perform structural loading calculations using O-Calc or Spida-Calc in accordance with NESC and pole owner protocol.

Review proposed aerial projects and determine the overall cost analysis of the project; recommend whether the project should be conducted aerial or underground.

Provide solutions for poles that fail pole loading or are not good candidates for new attachments.

Create make ready summaries for various pole owner requirements.

Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership.

Proficient knowledge in AutoCAD or GIS software.

Work Environment

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, and A/V equipment.

On site, wear safety equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots as required.

Experience And Education

2+ years of engineering administrative experience OR 5+ years of field engineering experience.

2+ years of experience with Katapult, O-Calc, Spida-Calc, or other similar programs.

2+ years of experience in outside plant or joint use permitting.

High School Diploma.

Valid Driver’s License.

The starting pay for this position is $24.00 and may vary based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
