Parasitology Technician (Overnight Shift) – Antech Diagnostics Work Shift:

12am–8:30am, Monday–Saturday (5 days)

Target Pay:

$22.74/hour

Job Purpose / Overview The Parasitology Laboratory Technician performs laboratory analyses and tests, prepares samples, sets up equipment, runs tests, and reads, interprets, and releases results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Set up, run, read, and release laboratory tests.

Meet minimum department requirements for parasite and Giardia reading/releasing rates.

Exercise judgment in evaluating and reporting results.

Perform equipment maintenance activities.

Maintain awareness of quality control and calibration.

Assist lead or supervisor with rechecks as directed.

Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality procedures; maintain a clean and organized work area; restock supplies as needed.

Potentially cross‑train to perform other duties, e.g., less complex tests (including duties performed by Para Aides).

Participate in improving laboratory efficiency, quality, and cooperation.

Consult senior peers on non‑complex parasitology tasks to learn through experience.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. Science degree or veterinary technician experience preferred.

Prior laboratory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Laboratory skills, including setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments.

Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology, parasitology procedures, equipment, and familiarity with a microscope.

General science background.

Attention to detail; organized; ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills to convey accurate information.

Positive, can‑do attitude.

Basic computer skills.

Working Conditions

Stationary position – must remain stationary for up to 2 hours.

Constant computer and lab equipment use, requiring accuracy and efficiency.

Occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, or crouching.

Required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.

Ability to observe details at close range.

Extended hours may be needed.

Sitting for extended periods.

Laboratory environment with potential biohazards; mandatory use of PPE.

Receive general instructions for routine work; detailed instructions for new assignments.

Work under close to moderate supervision.

Potential exposure to zoonotic agents and hazardous chemicals; compliance with Hazard Communication Standards.
