Primary purpose Manage a caseload of students with regard to programming needs and collaborative efforts between service providers, administration, instructional personnel, and parent/guardians to provide services and supports based on assessed needs. The facilitator is responsible for coordination, planning, and preparation for compliance documents for students eligible for special education services or Section 504 services.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred), Master’s degree (preferred)
Experience:
Experience with special education and/or Section 504 policies and procedures preferred
Skills:
Knowledge of federal and state special education/504 laws and regulations
Ability to follow and implement policies and procedures
Understanding of the individualized needs of students with disabilities
Excellent organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to analyze data/information and make informed decisions
Proficiency in using educational software and technology
Major responsibilities and duties
Assist in the development, review, and revision of IEPs and 504 plans. Facilitate IEP/504 meetings by coordinating between parents, teachers, service providers, and administrators.
Serve as a liaison between the school district, parents, and external agencies. Maintain open communication with families regarding their child\'s progress and any concerns about special education/504 services.
Maintain and manage accurate data/records. Track and analyze data to monitor program effectiveness, develop accurate reports, and support decision-making.
Address and seek resolution for any compliance issues or disputes that arise, ensuring the district adheres to legal standards and the needs of students are met.
Schedule ARD/504 meetings, ensuring that all committee members are appropriately notified. Manage a digital calendar and distribute notifications (initial and/or changes) in a timely manner.
Ensure that all appropriate elements of the IEP/504 paperwork are completed correctly.
Ensure that parent/guardians and all staff with an educational need to know receive a copy of the appropriate paperwork.
Coordinate school, home, and community resources and refer students, parents, and others to special programs and services as needed.
Work collaboratively with others to advocate for individual students and specific groups.
Establish and maintain a positive relationship with campus administration, teachers, staff, parents, and students.
Articulate the district\'s mission and goals to all stakeholders in the interest of student success and solicit support in realizing the mission.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
