Job Description This position optimizes the execution of truck shipments of products from various origins to destinations, ensuring accurate and on‑time deliveries. The role works closely with internal and external customers to plan, coordinate, and maintain efficient logistics while focusing on safety, sustainability, and customer service.
Primary Responsibilities
Schedule and execute inbound and outbound truck logistics to meet customer requests.
Track shipments and proactively monitor to resolve delays.
Process schedule revisions with accuracy.
Communicate shipment status updates to customers and internal contacts.
Participate in planning meetings focusing on inventory management.
Set delivery appointments at destinations through various systems.
Coordinate outbound shipments with scale house and/or warehouse.
Maintain freight pricing matrices to and from customer/supplier origins and destinations across multiple systems.
Prepare and aggregate physical and digital documents required for shipments.
Focus on cost savings for logistics to support business needs.
Build relationships with freight providers, expand the network of truck carriers, and optimize preferred carriers for common lanes.
Support daily and monthly reporting.
Additional Responsibilities
Cross‑train on other roles in the office.
Develop competence in LDC products and varying qualities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Professional Certifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a finance, science, or logistics discipline.
In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have at least three years of experience working in logistics, supply chain management, or customs clearance of food‑grade products.
Experience Basic qualifications:
Supply‑chain risk management & inventory management.
Strong understanding of major transport modes and their scope.
Direct verbal and written experience managing customer expectations, demands, and resolving complaints.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in liquid bulk logistics, including the operation and maintenance of bulk tank trucks.
Familiarity with vegetable oils or liquid food‑grade products.
Financial acumen related to logistics budgeting, freight value estimation, network modeling, and forecasting.
General understanding of food‑grade hygiene procedures and quality documentation.
Understanding of import/export processes, including ISF process, FDA pre‑notify process, and customs clearance.
Familiarity with freight invoice payment, claims settlement, and procurement events/bid processes.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Professionalism when interacting with customers over the phone, email, and in person.
Attention to detail is critical.
Negotiation skills with vendors or customers.
Strong problem‑solving skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet deadlines.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Proficiency with spreadsheet and word‑processing software, preferably MS Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
