Basic Function The Indiana State Bar Association is an Independent Certifying Organization (ICO) for Family Law and Trust and Estate Law. These specialization programs are designed to recognize attorneys who have achieved a level of experience and expertise in their field and to advance professionalism and civility in practice. The Certification and Program Manager is responsible for managing the certification and accreditation processes for these programs. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with technology, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and volunteers simultaneously.

The Certification and Program Manager will develop skills in program administration, process management, and member relations while contributing to ISBA’s commitment to providing professional development to members.

Responsibilities

Manage the certification and accreditation process for all ISBA specialization programs, including Indiana Registered Paralegal (IRP).

Oversee the certification application, testing, and recertification processes, including reviewing submissions, tracking deadlines, coordinating exam logistics, and maintaining accurate records.

Provide administrative support as liaison to each certification program’s boards and subcommittees.

Schedule and host (via Zoom) board and subcommittee meetings and facilitate workflow of groups between meetings.

Support board decision‑making by providing relevant data and analysis.

Serve as the primary point of contact for certification inquiries, providing timely and accurate information to current and prospective specialists, as well as state agencies.

Assist in planning and executing certification‑related exams and continuing legal education (CLE), including in‑person and virtual programs.

Stay informed on changes in certification standards and regulations and work with the Office of Admissions and Continuing Education (ACE) to ensure the ISBA remains in compliance as Independent Certifying Organization.

Develop and implement ideas to improve existing certification programs while evaluating possibility of expanding into new certification areas.

Oversight of out‑of‑state accreditation for ISBA programs, specifically Ohio.

Support section liaisons with CLE programs, as needed.

Oversight of paralegal education requirements for membership.

Support Director of CLE with ISBA sponsored programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong organizational skills are a must.

Able to manage volunteers from across the state to ensure adherence to regulations and timelines.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.

Able to self‑regulate deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Capable of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally.

Able to understand program regulations, think analytically, and solve problems.

Proactive and capable of working independently while contributing to team goals.

Excellent writing and communication skills, including ability to explain complex requirements clearly and provide guidance to attorneys.

Familiar with Zoom and other remote technology.

Proficiency Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power and database management.

Experience with certification, accreditation, or compliance processes is a plus.

Experience managing voluntary association members or boards is a plus.
