The Commercial Manager Ocean Freight USA will be responsible for leading, developing, and optimizing the ocean freight business within ELC USA. This role is responsible for driving growth, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring profitability across all ocean freight activities. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep industry expertise and strong leadership skills.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reorganize and lead the entire ocean freight business within ELC USA to align with corporate objectives.
Develop and implement strategies to expand market share and improve service offerings.
Build and strengthen relationships with overseas agents and customers to grow international ocean freight business.
Identify new business opportunities and negotiate contracts to maximize revenue.
Develop and expand partnerships with local carriers, ports, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable service.
Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support operational excellence.
Manage the Ocean Freight P&L, ensuring profitability and cost control.
Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and company standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Other duties may be assigned by management due to business change or business need.
SKILLS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB
Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex operations.
Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Fluent in English and Chinese (additional languages are a plus).
In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, documentation, and compliance.
Proficiency in relevant software and systems used in freight forwarding.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or a similar discipline
Minimum 10+ years in the freight forwarding industry, with a strong focus on
ocean
freight (particularly
imports ).
At least 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Expected to be commercially sound.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in air freight, logistics, or supply chain management.
Experience with budgeting and financial management in logistics operations.
Experience in a specific industry relevant to the company's offerings.
Familiarity with CW.
