Job Summary Nursing student going into junior or senior year with at least one semester clinical experience in med/surg to support summer volume. Start dates will be May 18, 2026 and June 1, 2026.

The primary purpose of your job as a member of the nursing staff is to assist the nursing staff under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will participate in a wide range of patient care activities, for a mainly geriatric population, functions and services for assigned patients, which include direct care and task oriented assignments.

Essential Functions

Implements patient care: implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patient.

Implements physician's orders.

Documents nursing intervention, patient response, effectiveness, complications, etc. communicates information to licensed nursing personnel.

Consults with all available in‑house resource personnel and departments for treatment.

Respects dignity and confidentiality of patient acting as an advocate.

Provides a safe and secure environment for patient.

Functions within limits of hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.

Performs in a calm and professional manner during crisis and/or emergency situation.

Accountability: quality of work.

Adheres to nursing dress code and wears identification pin.

Demonstrates organizational skills in providing nursing care by ability to adopt changing workloads.

Daily assignments are completed within an 8‑hour shift without compromising the quality of care.

Performs according to policy: temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight/height.

Prepares patient rooms on admission, daily, and upon patient request.

12 lead ECG.

O2 sat.

Pulse oximeter.

Patient personal hygiene.

Positioning and transferring of patients.

Specimen collection.

Glucometer.

Patient transportation.

Maintains open communication channels with all colleagues and supervisors.

Communicates factual and pertinent information in report.

Documents according to policy.

ADL flow sheet.

Vital signs, weight, blood sugar, intake and output, restraint checklist.

May be assigned additional tasks such as re‑stocking rooms, equipment maintenance, patient transportation.

Qualifications Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?

No.

Licenses and Credentials:

Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) – Various issuers required.

Experience:

Two years of RN nursing program including clinical rotations 2-3 years required and 1 semester of medical surgical clinical experience is required.
