Job Summary The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the operation of all plant systems and equipment, including but not limited to balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings. The position must respond to all system failures by taking appropriate corrective action and ensuring that systems are operational, safe, and efficient. This position generally reports to the Plant Maintenance Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform repairs in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules and OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) requirements.

Conduct preventive maintenance inspections (PM); diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components including balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electro‑magnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, front‑end loaders, and building equipment.

Maintain the Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) backlog.

Establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules, advising the Sr. Plant Maintenance Manager if additional work is needed or cannot be completed within standard repair times (SRTs).

Inspect the quality of third‑party repairs and/or rebuilds.

Recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality.

Multi‑task and manage multiple priorities.

Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.

Operate effectively under limited supervision.

Maintain a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, to support the operating schedule and facility needs.

Keep a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

2 years of relevant experience.

Minimum age of 18 years.

Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen, physical, and background check, including previous employment verification and criminal history review.
