Overview
The Buyer III is responsible for coordinating the supply chain function for off-site locations. This includes, but is not limited to, supplies, equipment and services, including processing requisitions, researching products, and entering data, following up on back orders, selecting vendors and maintaining up-to-date information on products. The Buyer III reinforces with customers, the Supply Chain Services functions and procedures and has oversight responsibility for training new personnel. The Buyer III is responsible for category and/or department specific benchmarking, bidding, contracting and purchasing and works in conjunction with the Sourcing and Buying teams to meet all procurement needs. This position works closely with APG leadership and attends their monthly managers’ meetings. The Buyer III participates in task groups and implementation teams involved with Information Systems activities which affect the Supply Chain Department. This position provides mentoring/training for Buyer I and II positions. The Buyer III serves as a resource for team members and other members of the department. The Buyer III utilizes continuing education opportunities to improve purchasing techniques and organizational skills. The Buyer III provides other services as requested by Management in support of departmental objectives and has the ability to multitask and manage time expectations. The Buyer III is the department liaison to APG personnel for all Supply Chain matters. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate's degree in Procurement or related field required. 10 Years of Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. License/Certification:
Certified Materials Resources Practice Certificate required within 2 years of being in the position. Experience:
Minimum 2 years purchasing experience required. Experience with an emphasis on Materials Management computer systems preferred. Experience with both Microsoft Word and Excel applications required.
Performance Expectations
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Demonstrates ability to perform basic financial calculations and spreadsheet navigation. Exhibits strong critical reasoning skills and is responsible for HEMM/PMM training of off-site personnel. Is an active participant in APG monthly meetings and participates in rounding of off-site locations.
