Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Market Lead Jacobs – Environmental Planning Practice – Eastern United States

Salary range: $153,500 – $239,825 per year (actual pay based on skills and experience).

Job Overview As the T&D Market Lead, you will drive the growth and delivery of environmental planning and permitting services for electric transmission clients across the eastern United States. You will provide exemplary service, develop delivery teams, and contribute to Jacobs’ utility and competitive transmission developer client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and grow the T&D market strategy, collaborating with operations, account managers, and Market Growth Director.

Connect disciplines within your geography to mobilize high‑performing teams, strengthen existing client relationships, and establish new ones.

Ensure delivery excellence, leveraging Jacobs’ global delivery model.

Develop processes and procedures to attract and retain top talent and reinforce our culture of belonging.

Engage in thought leadership and professional association engagement to elevate Jacobs’ industry presence.

Qualifications

BA/BS degree in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, business, natural resources, law, civil engineering, or related field.

20 years of environmental permitting and planning experience on transmission and distribution projects in the eastern or central U.S.

Minimum of 10 years of consulting experience supporting siting, permitting, outreach, and/or right‑of‑way for electrical utility and private developer projects.

Experience leading and managing staff or subcontractors for electrical utility project development.

Proven track record of strong strategy execution and director‑level client relationships.

Experience with at least one RTO/ISO (SPP, MISO, PJM, Southeast, ERCOT) and state regulatory commissions or agencies.

Knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements and permit filings.

Expertise working with key external stakeholders for electrical utility projects.

Understanding of how utility clients interact and contract with consultants and vendors, and ability to lead procurement expectations.

Experience mentoring and coaching staff to promote technical, leadership, and organizational growth.

Preferred Qualifications

A master's degree in planning, environmental science, biology, ecology, civil engineering, or related field.

Passion for mentoring staff and unlocking their potential.

Renewable energy experience.

Experience with multiple RTOs/ISOs (SPP, MISO, PJM, ISO‑New England, NYISO, Southeast, ERCOT).

Active membership in industry trade groups.

Program management leadership experience for large capital investment portfolios.
