Position Overview As the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide direct patient care, meeting both the psychological and physical needs of patients and families. You will practice within scope, administer medications and perform procedures in accordance with clinician orders and policies, and contribute to continuity and quality of care.
Position Details
Location: 20 Wall Street, Burlington, MA 01803-4758
Department: Pediatrics
Schedule: Two 9‑hour weekday shifts 8am‑5pm and every other weekend (Sat/Sun 8:30‑2:30)
Primary Responsibilities
Functions within a designated clinical team
Obtains and documents patient information; intervenes within scope and escalates issues
Provides patient education under an established plan of care
Obtains vital signs and department‑based testing
Administers prescribed medications and treatments per policy
Starts and monitors intravenous infusions; informs RN or clinician of IVs needing mixing
Documents all patient care activities, observations, actions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record within the established timeframe
Explains procedures to patients to facilitate understanding
Prepares equipment for examinations and procedures supporting the clinician and patient
Communicates pertinent information to team members verbally and/or through the medical record; maintains patient confidentiality
Under protocols or clinician direction, communicates test results or follow‑up plans to patients or families
Administers medications via IM, SC, ID, and nebulizer routes
Maintains proficiency in role‑specific procedures as defined in the LPN competencies
Participates in organizational and departmental process improvement activities
Participates in emergency procedures
Provides exceptional service to patients, families, and staff
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Graduate from a state‑approved school of practical nursing
Current, unrestricted license to practice as an LPN in Massachusetts
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Proficiency with electronic tools and applications (phone, keyboard, computer, applications)
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of nursing experience
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty
Experience with an electronic medical records system
Pediatric experience
Compensation and Benefits Pay is based on local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. Hourly rate ranges from $20.00 to $35.72 per hour for full‑time employment.
