Overview TalentFish is casting a line for a
Laboratory Technician . This is a 6-month W2 contract role that is fully onsite in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The reason this position exists is to support laboratory operations through hands‑on testing, equipment setup, sample evaluation, and accurate reporting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, integrity, and quality of test samples while contributing to precise and timely test results. The Laboratory Technician will work closely with engineering and technical teams to execute defined test plans, maintain equipment, and continuously improve testing processes.
What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience)
Higher Secondary Education plus three (3) years of related experience preferred
Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and internal teams
Proven ability to be innovative and creative in problem solving and test execution
Strong desire to work in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (required)
Ability and interest in incorporating automation into day‑to‑day testing activities
Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, measuring instruments, and operational instructions
Comfortable working with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility
What You'll Do (Skills Used in This Position)
Set up and perform equipment and test setups for clients and internal testing needs
Build and/or adapt setup and test equipment for the performance of tests, including new situations based on datasheets and engineering instructions
Examine test samples and follow defined test plans and datasheets to execute testing procedures
Evaluate test performance and sample operation to properly assess test results
Record, explain, and document test results; complete test reports and data sheets using appropriate forms
Operate designated machines and special laboratory equipment safely and accurately
Perform routine maintenance of designated test equipment and the laboratory area
Perform basic calibration of test equipment as required
Read and understand specific test standards and testing technologies within scope of responsibility (with supervision/support as needed)
Communicate with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation and understanding of test methods and results
May direct staff in test setups and assist in training or supporting less experienced team members
Examine less complex customer samples and learn to operate appropriate tests with necessary supervision/support
Initiate recommendations for new equipment designs and propose solutions to observed test problems
Receive instructions from and report data to engineers and engineering management
May plan tests, evaluate test results, and report opinions and interpretations as directed
Integrate basic continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job
Communicate with management and technical staff to provide suggestions for new equipment, process improvements, and testing enhancements
Compensation Information The expected salary range for this position is $20 - $22 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for comprehensive benefits.
