Overview
The Reg Nurse CC PRN is responsible for providing professional nursing for patients following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. Coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests and referrals. May serve as preceptor for clinical staff. Relies on experience and judgment to accomplish responsibilities. Works under minimal supervision. Creativity is expected to perform job. May lead and direct the work of others within scope of practice. Responsibilities
Patient Care: Perform psychosocial/physiologic assessments integrating changing data at all times. Formulate a plan of care based on trends of similar patients, including patient education and discharge planning; tailor and prioritize care to individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs. Actively participate in planning routine transitional health care needs (e.g., treatment options, patient placement options, end-of-life options). Respond immediately to changes in patient needs and provide holistic care using independent clinical judgment based on knowledge from education and experience. Adapt educational programs and information to individuals and families by modifying teaching strategies/content and integrate education during patient care. Collaborate with patients/families to identify realistic desired outcomes. Ensure efficiency in care delivery; determine immediate priorities and offer solutions as needed. Advocate for patient rights and counsel for conflict resolution as necessary. Identify variances from expected outcomes and revise the plan of care based on patient outcomes. Document all patient care activities per documentation standards; assist the healthcare team with documentation as needed. Coordination of Care: Communicate/collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, and families to maximize patient outcomes. Delegate patient care activities to other team members and participate in making and revising staff assignments to achieve maximum productivity. Maintain knowledge of unit initiatives and incorporate team/committee outcomes into practice. Actively participate on unit teams, work groups, and/or committees as requested; anticipate needs and voluntarily assist others. Quality: Serve as a clinical resource, mentor and preceptor; display leadership behaviors; provide direction and guidance regarding practice as needed. Participate in quality improvement initiatives by using standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery. Incorporate evidence-based practice and research findings into nursing practice to enhance outcomes. #CB Qualifications
Minimum 2 years experience in an operating room setting; preferably in an ambulatory surgery center. Additional specialty experience may be required as per facility practices (e.g., Pediatric GI). Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Active RN license as required by state of employment. Required valid BCLS Certification; ACLS and PALS required within 6 months. All patient care activities are accurately documented per documentation standards; assistance is provided to the healthcare team with the documentation process as needed. Coordination of Care: Communication/collaboration with the health care team members, patients and families is consistently provided to maximize patient outcomes at all times. Patient care activities are appropriately delegated to other health care team members and participating in making and revising staff assignments to achieve maximum productivity as needed. Knowledge regarding unit initiatives is maintained as evidenced by the incorporation of the outcomes of the team/committees work into practice. Actively participates on unit teams, work groups and/or committees as requested; anticipates needs and voluntarily assists others. Quality: As a clinical resource to health care team members, serves as a mentor and preceptor; displays leadership behaviors; provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice as needed. Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives by utilizing standards, guidelines and pathways for care delivery.
