Job Description University Cancer & Blood Center is currently hiring for a PRN Phone Triage RN.
Responsibilities
Evaluate symptoms over the phone (e.g., nausea, fever, pain) to gauge urgency.
Offer advice on managing side effects and direct patients to appropriate care.
Use triage algorithms to decide if a patient needs urgent, same‑day care at UCBC or other emergency services.
Help patients avoid unnecessary emergency room or urgent care visits.
Respond to messages from patients regarding their medications, symptoms, etc.
Work with providers to obtain refills and medications changes.
Key Skills & Knowledge
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Strong understanding of oncology, cancer treatments, and their side effects.
Excellent communication, customer service, and phone skills.
Familiarity with established triage protocols, like those from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
