Overview Metronome is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical systems supporting NGA\'s Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) mission. This role supports highly visible, high-impact intelligence systems that enable precise global modeling and analysis. The ideal candidate is technically strong, mission-focused, and motivated to continuously improve infrastructure in fast-paced, secure environments.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Linux systems and servers supporting enterprise and mission-critical environments
Analyze system performance, identify problem areas, and implement improvements using modern technologies and best practices
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows system environments
Monitor system health, logs, and performance metrics and translate findings into actionable insights
Ensure systems comply with DoD security standards, policies, and STIG requirements
Support virtualization environments and agency-unique hardware platforms
Develop and maintain automation using configuration management and scripting tools
Provide technical guidance and support to other engineering teams
Mentor and guide junior personnel on system setup, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
Collaborate across teams to share techniques, solve challenges, and develop new methodologies
9+ years of experience supporting virtualized environments and agency-unique hardware
Strong experience with Linux systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS 7, or Ubuntu
Experience in maintaining, administering, and troubleshooting Linux and Windows environments
Proficiency with OS-level scripting, system logs, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting utilities
Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows command-line operations
Understanding of networking protocols, architectures, DNS, and TCP/IP
Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet
Familiarity with backup and lifecycle management solutions such as Cohesity, Acronis, or Starfish
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, and exposure to containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience implementing DISA STIGs and system hardening in DoD environments
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or GSEC certification required
