Major Duties and Responsibilities

Role model our culture with all stakeholders and have the highest standards for your team in demonstrating those same actions.

Reflect the Newport Aquarium culture to guests, partners, direct reports, peers, and Property Support Center (PSC).

Develop, edit, coordinate and facilitate all aspects of new hire orientation.

Coordinate and possibly facilitate other required training for hosts. Includes oversight of our Learning Management System as well as coordination of onboarding and ongoing training efforts.

Oversee certain aspects of the onboarding process in Host Hub (onboarding technology).

Coordinate drug testing with newly hired hosts in safety critical positions.

Own all aspects of the company issued uniforms. Inventorying, placing orders, issuing and receiving of uniform pieces.

Responsible for annual training of employees on topics like Guest Services, Mission and Values, etc. Assist with annual safety training.

Provides coverage and assistance for peak recruiting periods.

Brainstorm, plan, schedule and execute organizational and departmental appreciation events (summer event, game night, pizza party, etc.).

Plan and facilitate major holiday meals for hosts. Specifically Thanksgiving and Christmas Day

Main point person for all things breakroom.

Oversee the company-wide “Caught in the Act” peer to peer recognition program in the Awardco platform.

Comply with safety and security directives, policies and procedures

Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Associates degree or certification in business/Human Resources or equivalent experience preferred.

Some experience in training development and facilitation, recruiting, and employee relations and/or management.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the Internet required.

Knowledge of state and federal selection guidelines and employment laws preferred.

Excellent administrative, organizational, and time-management skills, detail orientation. Ability to organize and coordinate projects through completion.

Excellent customer service and telephone skills, mature and professional manner; ability to communicate with poise and tact with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors.

Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff and to prioritize, coordinate and complete assignments and projects in an accurate and timely manner.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Must handle sensitive confidential material responsibly.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Strong interpersonal skills and ethics that generate and sustain a positive team atmosphere and professional environment.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays. Ability to respond to emergencies when needed.

Physical Requirements

Successful completion of pre-employment background check.

Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend and stoop.

Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 20 pounds
