Reports To: General Manager

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our lumber operation by managing human resources functions, employee benefits, and workplace safety programs. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on industry environment.

Human Resources

Manage employee onboarding, offboarding, and personnel files

Assist with hiring processes, including job postings and interview coordination

Track employee attendance, timekeeping, and payroll documentation

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations

Benefits Administration

Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies

Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions

Coordinate open enrollment and communicate benefit changes to employees

Maintain accurate benefits records and liaise with benefit providers

Safety & Compliance

Support and help enforce workplace safety programs and policies

Maintain OSHA logs, safety documentation, and incident reports

Coordinate safety training, certifications, and required renewals

Assist management with audits, inspections, and compliance reporting

Administrative Support

Provide general office and administrative support to management

Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical)

Prepare reports, correspondence, and internal communications

Answer phones and assist employees with administrative inquiries

Qualifications

Previous experience in an administrative, HR, or office support role (experience in lumber, construction, or manufacturing preferred)

Knowledge of HR practices, benefits administration, and workplace safety requirements

Strong organizational and time‑management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic office software

Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety programs

Payroll or HR experience

Bilingual abilities a plus (English and Spanish)
