Public Health Business Analyst (electronic lab report, Health Information Exchange)
Our client, Information Resource Group, Inc., is seeking an experienced Public Health Business Analyst to support electronic lab report (ELR) and electronic case report (eCR) data exchanges. The role involves communication with data providers, hospitals, laboratories, clinics, the Health Information Exchange (HIE), internal IT staff, and others, as well as researching electronic data issues and testing all electronic data received from submitters. The position is for a 1‑year contract, hybrid in Indiana (3 days in the office, 2 days remote), with a preference for candidates currently located in Indiana.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work through complex issues including creating test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts mapped to workflow, and system design requirements.
Replicate, isolate, and identify root causes while providing workarounds, testing, fixes, and patches in a staging or test environment.
Monitor system issues and provide feedback.
Research and resolve front‑end/user and back‑end/system problems by diagnosing root cause, hypothesizing, mapping solutions, and testing in QA environment.
Resolve issues by engaging appropriate business/policy staff, software developers, and/or vendor specialists.
Assist users in monitoring and analyzing data via SQL querying and reporting.
Work closely with end users, project management, application developers, and others to understand features and create a robust, comprehensive test strategy to verify functionality.
Required / Desired Skills
Experience writing, refining, and analyzing SQL queries – 7+ years.
Extensive SQL skills – 7+ years.
Experience creating test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts mapped to workflow and system design requirements – 7+ years.
Strong experience debugging applications – 7+ years.
Curiosity with the ability to problem‑solve in a creative but vigilant manner – 0 years (Desired).
Critical thinking skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy, precision, and logical reasoning – 0 years (Desired).
Verbal and written communication skills – 0 years (Desired).
User‑level experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel – 0 years (Desired).
