Purpose:
The FEP Operations Center is seeking a senior or lead mainframe z/OS Systems Engineer to support the mainframe platform and environments and help in the maintenance, transformation, and modernization of the FEPOC mainframe technology stack.
Tasks
Lead and participate in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of mainframe system engineering activities.
Work with existing mainframe managed service provider to improve and optimize services to internal and external customers and improve resiliency and availability of the z/OS mainframe platform.
Analyze and recommend improvements to the scalability and resiliency of applications and systems running on Z platform.
Provide hands on technical support for incident assessment and resolution for restoration of service.
Support problem Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Competencies
Solid leadership and hands on technical experience.
Good project management and ability to provide technical guidance to diverse teams.
Internal drive, intellectual curiosity, ability to learn, and desire to help the customers succeed.
Strong technical skills as well as good business acumen.
Comfortable working with all levels of the organization.
Required Skills
Infrastructure engineer with a minimum of 8-10 years experience supporting IBM zOS Systems in a SYSPLEX environment.
RACF - Security Administration: 5-10 years experience.
ZOS Systems Programmer: 5-10 years of experience.
CICS TS Systems Programming: 5-10 years of experience.
MQ Systems Programming: 5-10 years.
DB2 usage: 5-10 years, does not have to be at Systems Programming level.
ISV Production installation experience.
General Systems Automation support (IBM System Automation).
General Batch Scheduling support Control‑M.
Strongly Desired Skills
SYSPLEX and ICF configuration and tuning. Experience in de‑coupling Sysplex environment is a plus.
Experience with Middleware interfaces such as AIX, WebSphere, Networks, LDAP is preferred.
Working knowledge of network communication protocols (TCPIP).
Excellent knowledge of hardware infrastructure of IBM z16 and Dell/EMC storage subsystems.
Pervasive encryption on z/OS.
Ransomware solutioning for mainframe.
Java/J2EE.
DB2/UDB.
