Senior Ansible / Terraform Automation Engineer
Base pay: $75.00 - $80.00 per hour.
Job Summary We are seeking a Senior Ansible / Terraform Automation Engineer with hands‑on experience automating SAP components in enterprise cloud environments. This role will focus on modernizing and scaling automation using Ansible and Terraform, supporting SAP workloads running on Azure and/or AWS, and replacing legacy scripting solutions with standardized, maintainable automation. This role directly impacts the stability, scalability, and reliability of SAP systems by reducing manual effort, improving consistency, and enabling faster, safer changes through automation. This is a hands‑on execution role, not an advisory or junior position. The ideal candidate has directly built and owned automation for SAP systems and can operate independently in a complex enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for infrastructure and SAP automation
Develop and manage Terraform modules for cloud infrastructure provisioning (Azure and/or AWS)
Automate SAP‑related tasks including: SAP system installs, patching and upgrades, kernel updates, start/stop automation, OS‑level SAP dependencies
Reverse engineer legacy automation scripts (Perl, PowerShell) and replace them with Ansible‑based solutions
Implement and support Ansible Tower / AWX for enterprise automation workflows
Troubleshoot automation failures and implement rollback and recovery strategies
Ensure automation adheres to enterprise security, compliance, and change‑management standards
Document automation solutions and support knowledge transfer
Qualifications
4‑5 years of experience in infrastructure automation / DevOps
Expert‑level Ansible experience: Playbooks, roles, inventories, variables, Ansible administration, infrastructure automation
Strong Terraform experience: Module development, state management, integration with Ansible workflows
Direct SAP automation experience (non‑negotiable): Automating SAP system lifecycle tasks, working with SAP Basis teams, SAP running on Azure and/or AWS
Cloud experience: Azure (preferred): VMs, VNets, NSGs, ARM concepts
AWS (acceptable): EC2, VPC, security groups
Scripting skills: PowerShell (required), Perl (required), Bash / Shell scripting
Experience working in large enterprise environments
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Desired Skills
SAP HANA or S/4HANA automation experience
Python scripting
CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab)
Secrets management (Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault)
Experience migrating SAP workloads to cloud environments
Pay Transparency The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is
$75.00 - $80.00/hour . Non‑exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full‑time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
