Job Description Summary Service Manager
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage repair and maintenance of company‑owned and customer equipment, organizing yard status (Ready to Rent, Returned, Down).
Prepare work schedules and handle service calls to meet customer needs, ensuring equipment availability.
Order and maintain parts inventory; inventory and return parts.
Provide training and assistance to staff mechanics; evaluate equipment post‑repair, maintenance, or safety checks.
Document equipment status before and after rental.
Handle customer complaints regarding equipment condition or operation.
Promote safety awareness and perform quality control checks.
Maintain organized equipment service records; create, update, close, and bill work orders.
File warranty claims timely; commission new equipment.
Dispose of solid and hazardous material waste (batteries, used oil & filters, antifreeze, wash sludge).
Generate reporting: equipment due for service, fleet status, service records, open work order report, warranty claim summary, inventory management, parts & merchandise detail, financial and historical trends, service department financial summary, shop foreman performance, work order chargeback, halt report, open PO report, technician paid vs worked hours.
Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license.
Extensive experience in repair and maintenance of self‑propelled platforms and lifts.
Knowledge of work planning, scheduling, and supervisory activities.
Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and safety requirements.
Clear perspective on maintenance and repair issues in the industry.
Planning and management experience.
Computer literacy.
Reporting experience.
Inventory management experience.
Physical Demands Bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more; work indoors/outdoors as required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with applicable laws.
