Industrial Controls Engineer - Morgantown, WV
The Industrial Controls Engineer at Pillar Innovations will be responsible for delivering turnkey automated solutions in PLC programming, HMI development, and software installations. The role is based in Morgantown, WV and reports to the Automation Manager.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and onsite troubleshooting and repair for customers.
Support commissioning efforts for new projects and systems onsite at customer facilities.
Resolve operational problems related to current systems or new projects.
Ensure all relevant safety objectives are observed for all work completed.
Support manufacture, build, and validation of systems that include pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons, and robotic integration.
Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standards and customer requirements.
Modify systems upon customer requests and document the amendments accordingly.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of experience in process control and automation.
Familiarity with reading and creating CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000,500.
Experience with HMI/OIT development using Rockwell and/or Wonderware software platforms.
Efficient organization and planning of work tasks to meet company goals.
Critical thinking and exceptional problem‑solving skills.
Proactive, resourceful, highly motivated, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to balance multiple projects.
Working knowledge of MS Office productivity software.
Good understanding of mechanical principles is a plus.
Preferred if candidate has 80‑hour underground certification within the first 6 months of employment.
Travel as required (25‑50% at times) with paid travel time.
Flexible schedule, willing to work emergency call‑out, extended hours, out‑of‑town and overnight work.
Willingness to undergo a thorough background and drug screening process.
Working Conditions
Walking, using hands, tools, and ladders; climbing, crawling, kneeling.
Occasional lifting or moving up to 80 pounds unassisted.
