The Journeyman Electrician contributes to the success of CR Meyer and its heavy‑industrial customers through the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical systems in a variety of industrial settings, including pulp/paper, plastic converting, power generation, mining and other manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include providing excellent workmanship while prioritizing safety and aligning work with CR Meyer values.

Responsibilities

Assists with the installation and maintenance of electrical systems in compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.

Prepares conduit for installation using manual, mechanical and hydraulic bending systems.

Works independently and/or as a team to perform wire and cable pulls.

Properly runs, strips, splices, tapes, caps, connects, and grounds all electrical wiring per NEC requirements.

Installs electrical systems in a manner that minimizes waste and avoids unsightly or disorganized systems.

Uses electrical test instruments such as multimeter and oscilloscope to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

Stages materials, supplies, tools, and equipment as needed and maintains a neat, safe work area at all times.

Reads, interprets, and ensures that work is compliant with approved construction drawings, documents, and machinery manufacturer specifications. Asks questions when unsure of requirements before commencing work.

Completes all paperwork accurately and timely, including timekeeping, production tracking, and employment paperwork.

Works cooperatively with other trades and conducts oneself in a professional manner with customers, subcontractors, and coworkers.

Leads by personal example and is a strong advocate for the CR Meyer Mission‑Vision‑Values and Code of Conduct.

Safely operates hand and power tools, including pliers, hammer, fishing tape, connectors, lugs, knife/stripping tools, hand/power benders, testers, and meters.

Works safely around operating tools, moving machinery, heavy equipment, open areas, and leading edges.

Conducts regular safety checks of tools before use and tags out and reports tools that require attention.

Participates in all assigned CR Meyer safety training courses proactively.

Complies with all CR Meyer and owner safety guidelines, promotes safety to others, and reports concerns to the Safety Coordinator and/or supervisor.

Maintains up‑to‑date training, knowledge, and compliance with all related safety subjects, including NFPA 70E, PPE, power‑tool safety, HazCom, lock‑out/tag‑out, confined space, fall protection, powered industrial vehicles, jobsite housekeeping, and related standards.

Treats all CR Meyer tools, materials, and equipment with respect and takes steps to control damage and loss.

Proactively maintains certifications and training requirements in the electric trade, with an emphasis on new developments and technology.

Maintains a personal transcript of training and provides updates to the company as needed.

Wears all assigned PPE and observes CR Meyer safety guidelines at all times.

Due to project deadlines and demands, regular and reliable attendance is required.

Represents the CR Meyer brand in a positive, professional manner at all times.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

Current state‑issued Electrician Journeyman’s license.

Ability to complete all CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety guidelines, including First Aid/CPR, OSHA 30, SafeStart, and other trade‑specific requirements.

Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program.

Basic computer skills preferred and ability to learn CR Meyer software and systems.

Employees operating a company vehicle must have a valid driver’s license, insurable driving history, and demonstrate safe, courteous driving habits, following all traffic laws and CR Meyer required training.

Primary work hours are weekdays, with overtime, weekend, and on‑call/emergency work required in relation to project completion deadlines.

Ability to travel to various project sites within the United States.

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
