Process Engineer – Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc.

Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer to perform process engineering design functions for MPW‑A’s power projects in the Americas. The role requires a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree and 5‑7 years of experience with an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine OEM. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who can work with minimal supervision and possesses strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare heat and materials balances, PFDs
Develop P&IDs and process data sheets for instrumentation and equipment
Perform hydraulic calculations and heat exchanger thermal calculations
Conduct pump sizing and basic design work process understanding
Specify and select control valves (desired but not required)
Travel – 10%
Perform other duties as required

Maintain an understanding of core products and technologies delivered by Mitsubishi Power
Actively participate in teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation
Work in a multicultural environment
Report unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources
Communicate effectively with all levels of employees
Protect confidential information and maintain honesty and integrity
Attend meetings during Japanese normal business hours a few times per month
Knowledge, Skills & Education
Education: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a four‑year ABET accredited college or university
Experience: 5‑7 years with an EPC firm or combustion/steam turbine OEM
Must‑have experience:
Strong analytical skills
System simulations in AFT Fathom and AFT Arrow
Equipment and heat exchanger rating in Aspen HYSYS
Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) design
Gas Pipeline Codes and Standards
Design or specification of natural gas conditioning equipment (knock‑out drums, coalescing filters, adsorption units)
P&ID management
Preferred experience:
Natural gas compressor design and operation knowledge
Natural gas pressure regulating skids knowledge
HAZOP, SIL reviews, construction punch‑out, project startup activities
Smart Plant PID software
Technical Knowledge: Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, P&IDs
Computer Skills: Advanced MS Excel, VBA Programming (not required but will need to learn VBA if hired)
Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable speaking to groups
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Possible travel to customer offices and construction sites is required.
