Job Description:
The Early Stage Collections Specialist will counsel borrowers on methods for bringing their loan current and/or exploring alternative solutions. They will contact borrowers in the early stages (1‑59 days) of the delinquency cycle to negotiate payment arrangements. If a borrower is unable to bring the account current, the representative will review the borrower’s financial situation and offer additional options. They also support inbound Customer Service on high volume days. All duties are performed in accordance with company policies, U.S. state and federal laws, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate borrower’s ability to pay and collect financial information in a courteous, professional manner, aiming for first‑call resolution and regulatory compliance.
Counsel borrowers on alternatives through education of payment options.
Contact borrowers using an automated dialing system (Aspect Dialer) for inbound and outbound calls.
Provide alternatives to borrowers demonstrating ability or inability to pay, including repayment plans, loan modifications, short sales, deed‑in‑lien, refinancing, etc.
Negotiate payment arrangements, initiate documents for a “Request for Mortgage Assistance” package, and explain required steps.
Serve as the single point of contact for a borrower when appropriate.
Escalate complex cases to a licensed Loss Mitigation associate.
Provide status on payments and payoff inquiries; verify payment history and new servicer contact information; process payments.
Assist with loan servicing website payments, denied access, password resets.
Respond to escrow, loss draft, and closing document inquiries.
Handle a wide range of servicing functions: payment/credit disputes, escrow refunds, short sale, deed‑in‑lien, modification/refinance requests, repayment plans, and other mortgage activities.
What You’ll Need:
High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
Less than one year of collections experience in a customer service/call‑center environment and/or loan servicing experience.
Experience in the banking, mortgage/loan servicing industries preferred.

Compensation:
Target pay is $21.50 per hour plus a monthly incentive bonus. A $1.50 hourly bonus is available for fully bilingual English/Spanish speakers.
