Litigation Attorney

to join its healthcare litigation and medical malpractice defense practice. This opportunity is open in either

Raleigh or Wilmington

and offers a

flexible hybrid work arrangement .

The attorney will work closely with experienced litigators handling sophisticated liability and medical malpractice matters for

leading hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers . This role is well-suited for a self-starter who enjoys complex legal work, values teamwork, and is ready to manage an active caseload while delivering exceptional client service.

Key Requirements

Minimum

3 years of litigation experience

North Carolina bar license

and practice-ready

Strong written and oral advocacy skills

Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team-oriented environment

Demonstrated commitment to high-quality client service

Responsibilities & Core Competencies Litigation & Case Management

Propound, respond to, and evaluate written discovery

Conduct and defend depositions, including preparation of clients and expert witnesses

Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal research for complex matters in state and federal courts

Argue motions in state and federal court

Manage an active caseload efficiently and effectively

Healthcare & Medical Malpractice Focus

Experience or working knowledge of:

Healthcare litigation and medical malpractice defense

Statutory interpretation

HIPAA and healthcare regulatory frameworks

Medical board matters and healthcare industry issues

Trial preparation, including:

Evaluation of factual and legal issues related to liability, valuation, and constitutional matters

Preparation of witnesses, exhibits, motions in limine, and supporting briefs

Direct and cross-examination

Jury selection

Opening and closing statements

Prepare for and attend mediations

Negotiate settlements and review settlement documentation

Client Service & Communication

Provide clear, strategic client counsel through written and verbal communication

Prepare client summaries, status updates, and strategic recommendations

Communicate and negotiate with opposing counsel regarding discovery, settlement, and pre-trial matters

Make individual and group presentations and contribute to client-focused updates or blogs

Collaboration & Professional Skills

Strong collaboration and communication skills suited for a team-based practice

High level of organization and efficiency

Proficiency with general legal technology, including:

Legal research platforms

Billing software

Microsoft Office and Outlook

Familiarity with GenAI tools is a plus
