Responsibilities The Survey Project Manager is responsible for leading land surveying projects from initiation through completion, with a primary focus on electrical, power, and utility‑related projects. This role ensures that all deliverables meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, company quality standards, and financial objectives. Acting as the primary liaison between SAM and its clients, the Survey Project Manager oversees both field and office teams, supports business development efforts, and contributes to staff growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

Lead electrical, power, and utility‑focused land survey projects from planning through final delivery

Prepare and manage project proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules, contracts, and billings

Supervise field and office teams, assign resources, and establish detailed work plans to support utility and electrical project needs

Provide technical oversight by signing and sealing plats, field notes, easements, exhibits, and utility‑related survey deliverables as required

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, utility standards, safety requirements, and company quality standards

Develop and implement systems and procedures to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality across survey operations

Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships with electrical utilities, energy providers, contractors, and engineering partners

Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals, client pursuits, and expansion of utility and electrical survey services

Present project updates, technical reports, and deliverables to clients and internal stakeholders

Coordinate with sub‑consultants, utility companies, engineers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution

Monitor project financials, including Accounts Receivable (AR), Work in Progress (WIP), budgets, and overall profitability

Mentor and develop staff on technical standards, quality expectations, and best practices related to utility and electrical survey work

Represent SAM at client meetings, industry events, and trade shows within the utility, power, and energy sectors

Qualifications

Previous industry related work experience in a professional or management capacity

Bachelor's degree in related discipline and/or equivalent experience

Demonstrated experience in project/phase management for large scale projects

Strong proficiency with or understanding of tools such as AutoCAD, Micro Station, Geopack, MS Office Suite

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly define assignments/deliverables to team members

Ability to oversee, mentor and motivate a project team

Ability to troubleshoot issues and problem solve on the fly

Ability to meet or exceed aggressive deadlines while maintaining teamwork and collaboration with others

Professional License preferred
