Position Overview We are seeking an analytical and strategic Inventory Optimization Manager to transform how we manage inventory across our complex, multi-tier supply chain. This critical role will serve as our strategic mastermind for inventory planning, analyzing and optimizing processes from manufacturing through staging, facility receipt, feeder warehouses, and final distribution points. The ideal candidate will evaluate diverse flow options, optimize for cost savings and profit maximization, and configure our Slimstock forecasting tool to capture all operational nuances. Key Responsibilities Strategic Analysis & Optimization
Analyze historical data, demand patterns, lead times, and multi-tier supply flows to determine optimal inventory levels, safety stocks, and replenishment strategies across all stages (manufacturing, staging, facility receipt, feeder warehouses, and distribution points)
Evaluate alternative inventory routing paths that converge at the same endpoints, assessing trade‑offs in lead times, costs, and inventory requirements to identify the most profitable configurations
Provide data-driven recommendations on how to adapt business operations to fit more efficient inventory plans, balancing idealism with practical implementation
Performance Management & Metrics
Monitor and improve key metrics including holding costs, fill rates, stockouts, turnover, and overall supply chain efficiency
Develop comprehensive dashboards and reporting tools to track inventory performance across the entire network
Identify trends and proactively address potential inventory issues before they impact operations
System Configuration & Tools
Configure and optimize inventory management software, specifically Slimstock, ensuring the core setup accounts for all detailed nuances and multi-layer impacts to prevent missed opportunities
Ensure all system parameters accurately reflect the complexities of our multi-tier supply chain
Continuously refine forecasting models and system settings based on performance data and changing business needs
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with manufacturing, logistics, operations, and finance teams to integrate real‑world business constraints into inventory planning models
Propose process improvements and operational adjustments that align with optimized inventory strategies
Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership with clear ROI analysis
Network Optimization
Assess and optimize the network of inventory storage locations, distribution centers, and warehouses to enhance overall flow and cost efficiency
Evaluate potential changes to the distribution network and model the impact on inventory requirements and costs
Required Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
5+ years of experience in inventory planning, supply chain optimization, or similar analytical roles with proven expertise in multi-layered flow analysis and tool configuration
Demonstrated success in optimizing complex, multi-tier supply chains with multiple distribution points
Technical Skills
Proficiency in inventory management and forecasting software (Slimstock experience highly preferred)
Advanced skills in ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Strong analytical capabilities with Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data modeling)
Experience with optimization techniques and tools (Python, R, SQL, or specialized software like Llamasoft or AnyLogic)
Familiarity with network optimization and modeling concepts
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management) from APICS
CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) from APICS
Core Competencies
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
Ability to think through complex interdependencies and multi-variable optimization scenarios
Strong communication skills for presenting complex data and recommendations to diverse audiences
