The Opportunity The Region Fiber Supply Manager is responsible for managing recycled fiber procurement and supply execution for assigned papermills within the North Division. This includes overseeing resource allocation, inventory management, fiber quality, and supplier relationships to ensure the best cost and quality supply while maintaining Smurfit Westrock’s environmental, health, and safety standards. The role typically manages 900K–1.5MM tons of recycled fiber annually, with an estimated spend of $100MM–$200MM. This position provides day-to-day contact with papermill leadership teams to ensure strategic and tactical alignment.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock

Lead procurement strategy development and execution to ensure fiber supply quality and quantity for optimal papermill operations.

Manage supplier relationships and negotiate best landed cost for recycled fiber.

Develop and execute market strategies using data to anticipate threats and opportunities.

Partner with Logistics, Finance, Recycle Plant Operations, and Papermills to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.

Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and improve results.

Support Smurfit Westrock’s sustainability platform by leveraging recycled fiber to meet customer sustainability goals.

Build and develop team capabilities through coaching, training, and succession planning.

Establish metrics and accountability for safety, quality, and responsiveness.

Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to align priorities and expectations.

What You Need

BA or BS degree.

7–10+ years of procurement/materials management experience with progressive responsibilities.

3+ years managing others, preferably with remote management experience.

Experience in fiber/recycled products is strongly preferred.

Ability to lead teams, manage complex supply chains, and drive cost and quality improvements.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

The salary range for this position is $134,625.00 - $224,375.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
