Operations Support Manager – Woods Supermarket To manage the front-end to achieve maximum sales and profit, ensuring quick, efficient customer service while minimizing labor costs.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in total operations of the store, including opening/closing and managing the store as needed, typically 2 nights weekly.

Oversee the writing of the weekly schedule for the entire store and monitor the labor budget and needs each week.

Own the customer service image of the store, from the condition of the parking lot to the cleanliness of the store and the service customers receive throughout.

Serve as the compliance officer for AML (Anti‑Money Laundering) compliance, ensuring the store follows all guidelines for money order sales and check cashing.

Oversee the training of front‑end employees to ensure proper training.

Monitor front‑end service and call for additional help or open express lanes when necessary.

Observe security issues and develop preventive methods (vendor receiving, employee theft, shoplifting).

Maintain a regular cleaning and housekeeping program for the front‑end area.

Ensure store opening and closing accounting procedures are followed.

Ensure:

Front‑end personnel are aware of new produce items, policies, procedures, and rules.

Pricing coordinator is notified of all not‑in‑file and pricing discrepancies.

Change drawers are always locked and replenished when needed.

Prevent loss of money and merchandise by ensuring cashiers remove items from the bottom of the cart, handle products carefully, complete price checks on not‑in‑file items, correctly identify produce, count money, and use store procedures for accepting coupons, EBT, credit/debit cards, charge sales, and checks.

Monitor cashier performance:

Accuracy, speed, and productivity.

Over & shorts.

Courtesy and friendliness.

Adherence to dress code.

Assure safety for self, customers, and co‑workers by practicing store safety rules and notifying management of hazards immediately.

Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by the store manager and substitute for absent workers as needed.

Oversee DSD operations, store pricing, and central operations.

Manage employee transfers, both store‑to‑store and department‑to‑department.

Monitor and manage weekly receiving reports and understand receiving operations.

Work Environment

Inside work with extreme variations in temperature, dust, and humidity.

Qualifications Required

Able to give and receive complex verbal instructions and descriptions to/from supervisors, co‑workers, and employees concerning store policies, procedures, and equipment use.

A stable work and educational history.

Basic mathematical ability and able to count and verify customer change, checks, WIC, size/count, and coupons.

Able to bag customer purchases so that products stack without damage.

Ability to read and write English; perceive instructions, merchandise labels, order codes, numbers, reports, and forms.

Make judgments concerning employee scheduling, product/supplies ordering, hiring/supervision, merchandising plans, and sales/promotion of merchandise.

Good interpersonal communications.

Open availability.

Moderate computer skills and ability to manage technology on a screened device.

Preferred

High school diploma or equivalent.

Prior front‑end experience.
