Overview Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Responsibilities
Monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia, assessing airway, breathing, and circulation.
Administer medications, manage IVs, and provide pain and nausea relief post-surgery.
Identify and respond to potential complications or adverse reactions related to anesthesia or surgery.
Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
Provide emotional support and education to patients and families about the recovery process.
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
Adhere to PACU policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Active and unrestricted RN license in the applicable state.
Minimum of 1-2 years
of nursing experience in PACU, critical care, or perioperative settings.
BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred for pediatric facilities.
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and monitoring skills.
Ability to respond effectively in urgent or emergency situations.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
