Radiology Support
Position: PRN; Shift: 0600 - 1800. Location: Lexington Health, Columbia, SC.
Job Summary Greets patients and medical personnel, answers telephone and performs a variety of routine clerical duties. Performs necessary clerical duties pertaining to Radiology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Women’s Imaging Center, MRI and IVR.
Essential Functions
Greet patients and have them sign in after determining they are in the right place.
If patient is pre‑registered, have them sign all required documents (Condition of Admission, HIPAA form, Non‑Covered Services form), scan all signed documents/orders along with Photo ID and insurance cards into the system. If patient is not pre‑registered, print control sheet and take to registrar. Have patient sit in lobby until registration calls them to complete the registration.
Assist patients with filling out the Release of Information form when picking up DVDs or radiology reports. Call scheduling and give the information to them. The clerk will burn the DVD and bring it out to the front desk area. If DVD is requested after the file room has closed at 4:30, front desk staff will have to burn the DVD for the patient. Make sure the patient or authorised person signs the release form. Make a copy of their Photo ID and attach it to the release form for the file clerks to scan into the system.
Observe patients in the waiting room at all times and remind the person in charge if they are not being taken care of in a timely manner.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
Answer phone and transfer to appropriate area or answer any questions that you can help with such as location of patients, where procedures are being done, etc.
Responsible for checking on "call reports" every 30 minutes and remind techs patient is still waiting in the lobby.
Call back "on call" personnel for other departments when needed.
Performs all other duties as assigned by authorized personnel, i.e. fire or disaster.
Keep work area and waiting room clean and neat daily.
Make sure patients are as comfortable as possible (drinks if allowed), warm blankets, emesis basins, etc.
Keep patients informed of any delay and the reason for the delay.
Restock supplies as necessary. This includes paper in copier/fax, water, cups, etc.
Print radiologist's schedule and take to appropriate areas daily. (2nd shift).
Report any concerns to shift supervisor.
Fill in weekends when there is no coverage or if someone calls in sick.
Work holidays as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year of work experience in a related area that demonstrates ability to work well with others and handle stressful situations.
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
