Compensation Range
$24.80 - $31.75. Your rate of pay will be based on applicable experience.
Shift: Day Shift, 10 hours per day.
Days off: Varied.

Position Summary The Outpatient Phlebotomist is responsible for collection of blood samples with standard venipuncture and microtainer techniques for all age groups. The role involves performing venous and capillary blood specimen collection using established safety practices with skillful accuracy, including finger sticks and heel sticks. Properly collects blood cultures without contamination, receives laboratory specimens, processes samples for laboratory testing, and performs clerical and client services functions in the laboratory. Responsibilities include utilizing the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to order tests, collect specimens, locate test results, and handle specimen processing and logging functions to ensure timely, accurate workflow. The phlebotomist follows departmental and regulatory policies for patient and specimen identification, rotates in different outpatient draw stations, and manages preanalytical specimen issues with problem‑resolution skills. The position requires judgment under general supervision and collaboration within a professional health‑care team.
Minimum
Experience as a licensed phlebotomist or experience in a clinical laboratory.
Desired
Prior experience utilizing clerical, computer, and receptionist skills.
Medical terminology knowledge.
Experience in phlebotomy and laboratory specimen processing.
Licenses/Certifications Minimum: Current Phlebotomy Certificate CPT I issued by the California Department of Public Health.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities The ideal candidate must be an experienced phlebotomist who can provide high‑quality patient care in direct and indirect capacities. The role requires a warm and comforting demeanor, strict adherence to best clinical practices, confidence in phlebotomy skills, strong work ethic, and an understanding of customer service. Competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, interpersonal, and written communication skills, be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast‑paced environment, and comply with chemical hygiene protocols for biohazard materials. Organizational and multi‑tasking skills are essential. Successful candidates must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
