Overview Bayer is a global leader in agriculture and life sciences, committed to advancing sustainable solutions. The Seed Technician will support production operations and continuous improvement initiatives in the West Fargo facility.
Responsibilities
Operate production equipment and use real‑time data to optimize plant processes.
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Drive the adoption of 5S, Lean, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement practices.
Utilize 5WHY techniques to initiate process and standard work improvements.
Provide coaching and training to seasonal workers, trainees and peers.
Ensure upstream activities (e.g., field inspection, grower contract) meet company standards.
Use SAP to document key readings, maintenance orders, and production information.
Maintain process documentation such as operating, start‑up, shutdown procedures, standard work, and instrumentation diagrams.
Adhere to Bayer’s Health, Safety, Environment and QA/QC standards.
Comply with internal procedures and support legal compliance.
Lead daily Direction Setting meetings and allocate resources across production areas.
Support metrics and Visual Management boards to drive teamwork.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Basic IT knowledge (Internet, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Valid driver’s licence; driving record meets company guidelines.
Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs.
Willingness to work days, nights, rotating shifts, weekends and overtime.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced education (technical, associate’s or bachelor’s degree).
Intermediate computer skills, SAP and PLC experience.
Minimum three years’ manufacturing experience, preferably in chemical or row‑crop industries.
Experience in a continuous 24/7 rotating shift schedule.
Compensation & Benefits Salary: $22.91 – $28.81 per hour (estimate). Potential bonus or commission. Benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and more.
