Position Summary In partnership with management, the Medical Assistant Lead is responsible for effective patient and work flow at the site. The Lead is a working leader proficient in front office duties including financial processes, and possesses knowledge of back‑office tasks and flow. The position oversees staff to ensure procedures and tasks are completed correctly to TCMC standards with a specific focus on patient flow and customer service.
Major Position Responsibilities
Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit‑based safety and infection control requirements.
Responsible for overall clinic supervision, including training, ensuring that the site meets annual operational and budget goals.
Supervises staff scheduling, monitoring time and attendance, and task functions.
Oversees staff to ensure procedures and tasks are completed correctly and in accordance with TCMC standards with a specific focus on customer service and patient flow.
Provides a high level of customer service and works with patients while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Collects vital signs and patient history, collects specimens and performs basic laboratory tests as directed by physicians, and performs other clinical tasks as needed.
Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and follows company standards and policies.
Records patient care documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Assists with office procedures setup and cleanup, equipment sterilization, medication administration, electronic health record documentation and supply inventory management.
Helps physicians examine and treat patients, handing instruments or materials, performing injections, removing sutures, changing dressings on wounds as needed.
Operates EKG or other diagnostic equipment as needed.
Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets or physician instructions to patients.
Schedules patients for tests or admission by contacting medical facilities or departments.
Schedules patient appointments accurately and timely.
Interviews patients or representatives to obtain personal, financial and demographic information.
Prepares patient records and inputs data into computer, obtains all pertinent signatures, insurance information and financial data to protect clinic’s financial reimbursement.
Answers telephone calls and routine inquiries.
Collects co‑payments, deductibles and other payments, balances daily payment sheets.
Processes and documents all calls through computer system per policy and procedure.
Communicates information clearly, concisely and professionally at all times.
Meets internal and external customer service expectations.
Promotes departmental and clinic continuous quality and performance improvement.
Adheres to all medical practice policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year lead or supervisory experience, required.
Minimum of 2 years healthcare experience, required; healthcare clinic preferred.
Excellent ability to lead and motivate a team and hold them accountable.
Experience with computer systems required (web‑based applications, Microsoft Office suite).
Excellent professional and interpersonal skills; ability to interact well with diverse groups, required.
Maintains utmost confidentiality, required.
Knowledge of medical procedures and basic medical terminology, required.
Experience with electronic health records, required.
Excellent communication skills, required.
Proven ability to assess and manage workflow using sound judgment and problem‑solving skills to identify improvement areas and implement change.
Established success in maintaining composure in fast‑paced and stressful situations.
Education
High School diploma or GED, required.
Certification
Current Medical Assistant or C.N.A. certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer.
Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre‑employment background checks before starting work.
Salary/Hourly wage range for this position is posted. Actual pay will be determined based on verified experience and internal equity.
