Overview
MU Health Care is seeking a compassionate nursing professional to join our inpatient oncology team. This role focuses on assessing and meeting the varied needs of patients, supporting pain management, medication education, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team. The nurse will uphold hospital standards and policies and contribute to continuous improvement in patient care. Shift : Weekend Days Department : Oncology (Inpatient) Compensation : Base Pay Range:
$34.46 - $51.02 per hour/per year, based on experience
Shift Differentials:
Additional $8.00 per hour for weekend shift
Sign-On Bonus:
$20,000

Responsibilities
Assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.
Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain promptly. Utilizes appropriate assessment tools (0-10 scale, FACES, or FLACC).
Demonstrates an understanding of medications with regards to action and side effects. Reports pertinent information to appropriate individuals. Educates patients and significant others about their medications.
Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions in achieving goals and patient care outcomes. Maintains nursing standards and implements hospital policies and unit procedures.
Participates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups. Adheres to attendance, punctuality, and dress code guidelines.
Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate personnel (e.g., physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, nursing supervisor) and documents observations accurately and concisely.
Works with a multi-disciplinary team to provide high-quality care and supports unit/department duties as outlined in department documents.
Required Qualifications
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
One (1) year of acute care and/or operating room RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The position is active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. The role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.
This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts, holidays, and work during inclement weather will be required.
