Job Summary Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the Physician and/or Designee.

Essential Responsibilities

Interview patients, measure vital signs, and collect pertinent information as required by the department. Record information in the patient’s medical record.

Prepare treatment rooms and patients for examination, and assist clinicians with patient care.

Inventory, order, and replenish medical supplies and materials.

Perform treatments and routine laboratory tests as required by the department.

Schedule appointments, perform clinical tasks, and complete appropriate forms as required by the department.

Administer medications, including injections, if responsible.

Clean, process, sterilize, and check instruments.

Perform computer data entry functions and other clinical/technical skills specific to the department.

Provide customer service by anticipating clients’ needs, listening, and taking responsibility to resolve issues within scope.

Maintain a clean, orderly, and functional work environment; respond promptly to alarms and patient requests.

Act as an effective team member who is flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others.

Manage difficult or conflict situations constructively and seek appropriate assistance.

Take accountability for own actions and act as a resource and mentor to new employees, students, and other team members.

Actively participate in departmental professional development activities and adhere to the Attendance Policy.

Support a collaborative labor‑management partnership environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Experience Minimum six (6) months of experience or successful completion of Kaiser Permanente externship. Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

Education

High School Diploma/GED.

Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California.

License, Certification, Registration

Basic Life Support

Additional Requirements

Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical information.

Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.

Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.

Refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.

Demonstrated ability to use personal computer.

Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent experience.
