that will provide essential support services to our Everett Ship Repair (ESR) facility. The Purchasing Agent is a fully onsite position, working out of our Everett shipyard.

This position will beresponsible for executing the purchasing and materials requisition processes to support the company’s shipyard construction and repair operations efficiently and cost-effectively. Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, the incumbent will be an integral part of the Finance team while additionally being well-integrated into the ESR operations. What You will Do (Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities): Execute purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices. Monitor ongoing compliance with purchasing policies and procedures. Execute procurement policies to ensure all items are purchased and delivered within budget and time constraints. Identify and source new suppliers and vendors. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Administer and maintain an approved vendor/supplier database. Administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers. Evaluate contracts to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies. Monitor supplier and vendor compliance with contractual agreements. Measure and manage the vendor and supplier cost, quality, and delivery performance. Monitor supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations. Troubleshoot cost, quality, and delivery concerns. Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery, and supply of purchases. Execute performance improvement measures for suppliers and vendors. Work with relevant departments to manage inventory requirements. Review purchase orders for proper authorization and compliance with organizational policy and procedures As requested, assist in monitoring and reducing purchase variances to meet profit objectives. Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the purchasing and materials requisition process. Maintain and organize historical records. Support special projects on group wide initiatives, as requested. Expediating materials, and reviewing & maintaining backorder reports Qualifications What You Bring to Our Team: The incumbent must be organized, resourceful, and accountable for delivering on commitments to the customer both internal and external. Minimum Experience: 2+ years of previous experience in a purchasing environment. Working knowledge of laws and regulations relating to procurement and contracts. Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems, LEAN principles of planning and MRP/ERP systems Financial acumen Ability to prioritize and manage expectations in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate articulately and efficiently with customers and people within the company. Ability to coordinate multiple details related to various projects simultaneously. High ability of customer focus and ability to maintain a positive attitude always. Proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. High School Diploma or Equivalent. Valid Washington State Drivers License. Preferred Requirements: Coursework in business, materials management, operations management, engineering, or related field Experience working as a Purchasing Agent or Purchasing Coordinator in a marine or construction environment. Proficiency and previous experience with MRP/ERP Systems - Sage X3 a plus! Experience with MS Project or equivalent. FAR/DFAR knowledge. Works to continue personal competency through education, outside literature, seminars, or the like. Experience working in a construction or manufacturing environment.
